Autumn in Perth: A Day at S&R Orchard
If you've been sleeping on Autumn in Perth, this is your wake-up call. 🍂 While most people think of Perth as a summer city, May quietly rolls in and turns everything golden — the trees, the light, the whole vibe shifts into something softer and slower and honestly so much more beautiful.
Last week, we drove 30 minutes out of the city to S&R Orchard in Walliston, and I am not exaggerating when I say it was one of the prettiest days I've had since moving here. Think flower arches, a piano in the middle of an orchard, vintage cars drowning in autumn blooms, and golden tree corridors that go on forever.
Whether you're a content creator, a family looking for a day out, or just someone who needs a reason to leave the house — S&R Orchard in autumn is it. Keep scrolling, because I'm taking you through every single favourite spot!
Called it — this place is everything!
Okay but can we talk about the fact that S&R Orchard has a TELEPHONE BOOTH covered in autumn blooms just casually sitting in the middle of the orchard?? No big deal. Totally normal. This is the kind of detail that makes S&R Orchard so special — every corner has been thought about and styled with so much love. The terracotta tones, the dried florals, the autumn trees behind it... it's genuinely one of the prettiest spots on the whole farm.
When you find the most peaceful bench in all of Perth.
Someone asked me what Autumn in Perth actually feels like and honestly? It feels exactly like this. Mild enough to sit outside without melting, cool enough to actually enjoy it. Temperatures in May sit around 22°C during the day — perfect "wear a light cardigan and be comfortable" weather. The fruit tree rows at S&R go on forever and every single one is turning gold. I sat here for way longer than a normal person should, and I have zero regrets.
Main character behaviour: unlocked!
They literally built an "InstaFrame" in the middle of the orchard. With GIANT red poppies. And I sat right in it and felt like I was in a movie set. This is the level of thought S&R Orchard puts into every corner of this place — there are photo props and installations scattered all throughout the farm, and each one is more extra than the last (in the best way possible). If you're coming for content, come with your best poses ready because you will NOT be disappointed.
The cutest caravan you've ever seen? Yes.
This terracotta caravan is giving "run away to the countryside and never come back" energy and honestly I'm here for it. S&R Orchard is so thoughtfully designed — every corner has been styled with autumn colours, seasonal props, and little moments that make you want to stop and soak it all in. This caravan with the flower-covered bicycle out front? A whole vibe.
Who put a piano in the middle of an orchard and why is it the most romantic thing ever!
I need everyone to understand that there is a PIANO. In the MIDDLE of the orchard. Covered in dried flowers and pampas grass. With golden leaves falling around it.
I felt like I was in a Studio Ghibli film. This prop alone was worth the entire trip. S&R Orchard is genuinely a photographer's dream — they've thought of everything. Come ready to spend at least 2–3 hours just wandering and discovering new spots.
Bringing mum here was the best decision I made all autumn.
Some places are just better when you bring the people you love — and S&R Orchard is absolutely one of them. This floral moon arch is one of the most stunning things I've ever seen in person. Oversized blooms in peach and rust tones, yellow leaves drifting down, and that magical row of golden trees stretching out behind... it's almost too pretty to be real.
S&R Orchard is a full family day out — beyond the photos, there are tractor rides, a petting zoo, food trucks, and so much space to just slow down and enjoy the season together.
Autumn served this look and I simply had to show up for it.
A vintage car. Covered in autumn flowers. Sitting in a golden orchard. Under a clear Perth Hills blue sky. Tell me HOW this place is real?? Every single installation at S&R Orchard is more beautiful than the last and this flower car has to be top 3 for me. The colours are literally perfect — rust, amber, peach, gold — all the shades of an Australian autumn in one frame.
Good days are better with family.
These are the moments worth chasing.
There are days that just feel like they were made for you — and this day was one of them for me.
The arch. The golden corridor. The people. The light. I want to come back every single autumn just to stand in this exact spot and feel that same feeling all over again.
If Autumn in Perth is on your bucket list — S&R Orchard is your sign to go. It's 30 minutes from the city, it's beautiful, it's affordable, and it's the kind of day you'll be talking about for months.
Good to know before you go:
Getting there from Perth City
Head east on the Great Eastern Hwy, then turn onto Welshpool Rd East and follow signs toward Walliston. The full drive is around 30–40 minutes depending on traffic. Google Maps "S&R Orchard Perth" and it'll take you straight there. Parking is free on site. No Transperth buses go out this way, so either drive, carpool, or Uber — budget around $40–$55 one way from the CBD.
Budget breakdown (per person)
Entry: ~$12 · Food trucks: $15–$25 depending on what you grab · Rides (tractor, ferris wheel, tea cup): $3–$6 each · Fresh fruit from the stall: varies · Total per person: roughly $35–$50 all in, more if you go ride-happy. Pro tip: pack a blanket and snacks to picnic under the trees and save some coin.
Tips for the best visit
Weekends get crowded and the photo spots queue up fast. Wear comfy shoes (it's a working farm — uneven ground!). The golden-hour light in the morning is chef's kiss for photos. Bring cash — some stalls are cash only. And yes, every single corner is a photo op, so charge your phone the night before.
Wait — you have to see this place in motion.
Photos don't do it justice — the golden leaves crunching underfoot, the smell of fresh fruit in the air, the random piano sitting in the middle of the orchard... I captured every single moment on video and I am SO excited to share it with you.
